Cosmic rays are particles of high energy that are emitted from the sun or other sources inside and outside of our galaxy. Most of these particles are reflected by the earth's magnetic field. The particles that actually reach the earth build up showers of smaller particles like [[Pion|pions]] and [[Muon|muons]] that can reach the surface of the earth.
