In [[Quantum Mechanics|quantum mechanics]], the *Hamiltonian* describes the energy of a system. Of particular interest is the [[Ground State]] of a system, i.e. the smallest allowed energy in the system. To determine it, we first have to know the Hamiltonian of the system. The term *model* is often used as a synonym, since a Hamiltonian describes the essential physics of quantum systems and phenomena. >[!read]- Further Reading >- [[Energy Level]] >[!ref]- References
