*Monochromatic light* is light of a single, specific [[Wavelength|wavelength]] and [[Frequency|frequency]]. [[Laser|Lasers]] produce almost monochromatic light. Regular [[Light|light]] sources like the sun or a light bulb emit a broad range of frequency (left side): light appears white. A [[Laser|laser]], on the other hand, emits only a single frequency (right side). The light appears colored, and actually consists of a single color only, not of a mixture. ![[monochromatic_light.excalidraw.light.svg]] >[!read]- Further Reading >- [[Electromagnetic Wave]] >- [[Frequency]] >- [[Light]] >- [[Quantum Technologies]] >[!ref]- References
